Sister Helen Kilzer and Maryvonne McQuade share a light moment during the presentation of the Sister Helen Kilzer Lifetime Service Award on Thursday afternoon at a meeting in Bismarck of the Foreign Language Association of North Dakota. McQuade, who now lives in Mexico with her husband Sam McQuade. said she was a member of the local French club for 22 years and called its members "my extended family." Valerie Kling, of FLAND, made the presentation and said McQuade is the first recipient of the group's most prestigious award named for Sister Kilzer who has taught languages for many years at the University of Mary. "She is always willing to give the French perspective and to promote French language and culture," said Kling. The gathering of FLAND members and presentation was held at Annunciation Monastery near the University of Mary campus.
